What they needed

What does protected learning time need from a venue?

Protected learning time brings a whole network together at once. For Central and South PCN, that means 60 to 100 people from different practices on site, with different sessions and training running through the day.

That needs one room big enough for everyone, somewhere every practice can reach, and a day that runs to time. The time is protected, and nobody wants to lose it to setting up.

How we host it

How does the Maggie O'Neill Centre host a protected learning day?

  • The Auditorium seats up to 60 cabaret style, so practices can sit together at tables, or up to 100 theatre style.
  • The room is set before anyone arrives, with the stage, screen and lighting ready for the first speaker.
  • Hosts are on site all day, and tea and coffee are served for everyone.
  • Free parking on site for staff travelling in from every practice, 30 seconds from the M57.
Every month

Why hold PCN meetings here?

Alongside the big days, Central and South PCN books smaller meeting rooms each month for its board meetings and the other meetings a PCN has to hold. Meeting at the Maggie O'Neill Centre means meeting in a shared space, away from any one practice's building.

One venue for the training days and the regular meetings also means one place to book, and staff who already know the way.
