Maggie's Meals and community
Where your booking goes.
Room hire at the Maggie O'Neill Centre funds Maggie's Meals, our social supermarket, and the charity's community work in Huyton and Knowsley. We're a registered charity (no. 1215599), and we've been here for over 25 years.

What is Maggie's Meals?
Maggie's Meals is our social supermarket, open every Friday, 9am to 10am at the Maggie O'Neill Centre. 750+ people used it in the last year.
It's run by the charity and our volunteers, including Liam and Bill, and it's paid for by the rooms, offices and virtual offices our customers book. When you hire a room here, part of what you pay keeps the shelves stocked.

What else happens at the Maggie O'Neill Centre?
Alongside Maggie's Meals, the building hosts plenty more for the local community.
Community coffee mornings
An open door and a hot drink for anyone who wants company.
Community clean-ups
Clean-ups around Huyton, looking after the area we share.
Church gatherings and groups
Our church gatherings, small groups and men's and women's groups are open to everyone. Many people find a real sense of belonging here, even if they don't share our faith.
All Nations
Held once a year, in the summer. People from 20 to 30 nationalities take over the building with food from home and traditional dress.
Do you support local community groups?
Yes. In the last year we gave 550+ hours of free space to hyper-local community groups.
It's part of how we serve the streets around us. Room hire from businesses, public bodies and charities is what makes it possible.
How do you look after people in hard times?
The Maggie O'Neill Centre began as a church, and the new church is still on the property. When someone in our church family is unwell, going through a hard time or has a new baby, we're there for them, with home-cooked meals, hospital visits and moral support.
We extend meals, hospital visits and moral support to others in the community when our volunteers have the capacity. Everyone who helps is a volunteer, so we look after their time carefully.
Who keeps it all going?
Volunteers. Liam and Bill help to run Maggie's Meals every week, alongside the rest of the team at the Maggie O'Neill Centre. Meet the team.
